pocket ultrasound!!!

Acuson P10
has anyone see this?
There was one at the recent study day, and i was surprised at how 'reasonable' the image was for such a small thing!
The chap was indicating that they were marketing it towards AAA screening. I guess it may be okay and would cope with basci measurements. The data can easily be carried on a memoery stick, and a basic 1G usb stick will hold loads of patients.

If you look at the cost versus function/performance it is not too bad for AAA screening (as its indicated they retail at around 5.5K) I guess where the imaging is too poor, the patients can be referred in for a better scan, but this i expect will be cheaper per year than buying other portables like sonosites maybe......
Any comments?

Just trying to test the forum - the pocket us looks very interesting I wonder how it would cope with obese patients?

Re: pocket ultrasound!!!
I suppose it will have its limits, but the chap they tried it on at the study day was average (not slim by any means).
I was wondering if anyone else that logs on here in the future will have any comment or experince with it.
It would be interesting to test it i guess.

Can't say I've ever seen it but would definitely be interested hearing from anyone who had tried it in clinical practice. My feeling is that it's use would be fairly limited in vascular work. I'm guessing it doesn't have any colour or PW Doppler?
